The Brazil Mission Society has direct impact on the lives of many Brazilian children. The BMS demonstrates Jesus’ love in real and tangible ways through the support of several daycare centers, special schools and two orphanages.
The Orphanages at Santo Angelo and Moreira are home for many Brazilian children who would otherwise be homeless. These orphanages receive no support from the Brazilian government and are dependent upon help from BMS and other like-minded Christians around the world.
Brazilian Life for Children
An estimated 53 million Brazilians - of whom 21 million are children - live on less than $1 per day. Millions of children live on the streets in the large cities. They are called abandonados, the deserted ones. There are an estimated 12 million abandonados in Brazil. Many of these children are homeless orphans. Others have families, but must work on the street to find money for food. Many survive by shining shoes, begging, washing cars, stealing, or carrying shopping. Others work in exploitative labor markets. HIV/AIDS infection, rampant unemployment rates, and lack of access to education and health systems are some of the risks faced by Brazilian children.
Holy Trinity Institute (HTI) is an oasis of hope for children in Brazil. The goal is to assist children in all aspects of life: material, emotional, spiritual, psychological and social. The institute complex includes a children's home, senior's home, elementary school, church, farm and mechanical workshop. Most of the children and seniors who come to live at HTI have no other place to go. Many are homeless, while others who have families still have to work in the streets to find money for food.
The Children's Home
Children receive clothing, nutritious food, medical and dental care and education from kindergarten to high school.
Like any big family, they have big needs! They always need assistance to help purchase medicines, hygiene supplies, office supplies, shoes, underwear, household cleaning products, electric and telephone bills - just like your own home!
Everyone at the home shares in the work load of running the home by helping in the kitchen, laundry, and with other household tasks.
Supplies the home needs: stainless steel plates, hairnets for kitchen workers, laundry renovation (new flooring and wall painting), wire clothes lines, and exterior painting.
The School
Offering education from 1st - 5th grade, the school serves the children of HTI, as well as about 60 additional children from the local community.
There are many ways you can help! The school is in need of donations to purchase supplies such as Classroom course materials, DVD recorders (to record movies or programs that will be educational, avoiding exposure to bad TV programs), uniforms, projector, electricity and phone bills, game room equipment, music room equipment, books for leisure reading, and exterior painting for the buildings.
The Farm
The farm not only produces food to feed the children, but also provides
valuable occupational training. There are cows, chickens and pigs. They also have a vegetable garden, an orchard and fields.

The farm is in need of new pig stalls (they have received some funding for this project, but need more), seeds for crops, feed for animals, greenhouse and fencing repairs.
Meet Josue and Douglas
Douglas loves Brazilian soccer (or futebol as it’s called in Brazil) and he enjoys hanging out with his friend Josue. Douglas and Josue, along with some 70 other children, live and go to school at Holy Trinity Institute, an orphanage in Moreira, Brazil.
It is through the donations and support of so many people that it is possible for us to continue to help those at the Institute. If you would like more information on how you can help, please click here.
